Pathology Review Pulmonary, Neuro, and Hepatic Pathology for the General Pathologist Edusymp Course

About This CME Teaching Activity

This CME teaching activity is designed to provide a practical review of pulmonary pathology, neuropathology and hematopathology.  Basic to advanced techniques, pearls and pitfalls to pathologic diagnosis are included. Interactive case reviews emphasize the didactic lectures rounding out the program.

Target Audience

This CME activity is primarily intended and designed to educate pathologists.

Educational Objectives
At the completion of this CME teaching activity, you should be able to:
  • Discuss the updated WHO 2016 classification scheme for CNS tumors.
  • Summarize the new immunohistochemical biomarkers in surgical neuropathology.
  • Recognize glial and glioneuronal neoplasms.
  • Classify embryonal neoplasms of the CNS.
  • Explain meningioma grading.
  • Recognize peripheral nerve sheath tumors.
  • Discuss the WHO adenocarcinoma classification and implications for selection of targeted therapies.
  • Discuss pulmonary manifestations of autoimmune disease.
  • Apply a more practical approach to technical issues in processing of pulmonary pathology specimens.
  • Describe the life cycle of diffuse alveolar damage.
